Crime Warning

chad — Mon, 01 Jul 2013 02:50:54 +0000

The Oklahoma City Police Department has notified us of a some groups of people preying on our neighborhoods.

The first group will approach your home after hours and ring the doorbell. While you are answering the door and distracted, they will send others to attempt to break into your home from back. Please make sure that your home is secure before going to sleep at night and be wary of any unknown visitors. If unsure, call 911 immediately.

The second group are younger and apparently from nearby apartments. They will roam the neighborhood on bicycles and look for easy targets, whether a home or an automobile.

Please be smart with your home and your vehicles. Avoid leaving valuables where they can be easily seen. Make sure vehicles and doors are locked.

Immediately call 911 in any emergency situation!

New Neighborhood Based Social Network

admin — Sat, 09 Mar 2013 22:29:15 +0000

There is a new social network out there called Next Door. It looks really interesting.
From the Nextdoor website:

Nextdoor is the private social network for you, your neighbors and your community. It's the easiest way for you and your neighbors to talk online and make all of your lives better in the real world. And it's free.

Thousands of neighborhoods are already using Nextdoor to build happier, safer places to call home.

People are using Nextdoor to:

Quickly get the word out about a break-in

Organize a Neighborhood Watch Group

Track down a trustworthy babysitter

Find out who does the best paint job in town

Ask for help keeping an eye out for a lost dog

Find a new home for an outgrown bike

Finally call that nice man down the street by his first name

Nextdoor's mission is to bring back a sense of community to the neighborhood, one of the most important communities in each of our lives.

Here are some stories about it.

I have created a place on Nextdoor for Windsor Hills and I strongly encourage you to go sign up there.
